Carl Auböck, one of the best-known figures of Austrian modernism was taught at the Bauhaus. He created art out of everyday objects. Crafted from polished brass, Auböck's Hand Cork Stopper adds a modernist's twist to any bar cart.  A metal workshop founded in the 19th century, Carl Auböck is still situated in its original premises in Vienna, with the fourth generation of the family now at the helm. The company is famous for the modernist designs of the current owner’s grandfather, which include thousands of original objects and pieces of furniture, most of them made of polished brass.

Length 5.5”

Please bear in mind that these are individually made by hand so each one may differ slightly from the photo, they all have their own character. Some marks and little defects will be seen on the surface of the hand. they show the usual finishing quality. the casting is done in sand technique throughout this is why sometimes little holes show up. the maintenance is done best with nevr–dull, a wadding that is available in hardware stores.

Most of our customers and collectors prefer keeping marks and spots on all the brass surfaces‚ as their own patina and don‘t polish them at all.
